Curious about the price of certain baits

Featured Replies

The local Wal Mart has started to carry The Strike King Red Eye Shad. You know, the one KVD made famous.

The price on the 1/2 ounce "sexy shad" pattern is $4.96

All the other Strike King Red Eye Shad baits regardless of color or weight are priced at $5.76

Curious to know what might be behind this pricing scheme.

I figured the Sexy Shad color would be at a "premium" price compared to the other colors available, since KVD is the one who created that color pattern and gave it such a name.

Has quantum rods/reels gone up in quality or price since KVD signed on as a sponsor?

and BPS has them for $5.29 (1.4 oz), 5.49 (3/8 oz) and 5.99 (1/2 oz)

You sure it's sexy shad?  Here the chartruese shad is cheaper.  At dicks the sexy sunfish is 3.99.

Never know what you'll get at Walmart or Dick's.

All of Strike Kings cranks are $3.99 by me and the Red Eyes are $4.29. Needless to say, I got a few of each.

supply and demand. Maybe walmart miscalculated and ordered 10x as many 1/2 oz and they didnt sell as fast as they thought. Maybe Strike king produced 10x as many and gave a price brake on that particular bait. It happens all the time.
