Strike king baby King shad?

Featured Replies

Anyone have any experience with the baby shad? they are a neat looking little bait. Just wondering if anyone has had any success with them.

Hey Shooter, I think "BABY KING SHAD" is what you're referring too and I'm not the crank king but IMO it will be a huge hit from all angles....Big action-small bait.

I think there was an episode of Pro Team Journal where Mark Menendez caught a mess of spot on it. I know I'll be trying it out this year.

It's a great lure with good action, but not very durable.  The middle hinge part where the two connect seems very weak.

yaaj, have you had one break? I know strike king had problems with early king shads, but I thought they had fixed the issue of them breaking at the joint???

I've been fishing the King Shads for a couple of seasons now and they've boated a nice number of good size Pike & Bass for me, I've never had a joint brake on one of mine. I picked up a couple of Baby King Shad's late last season, other than a couple of cast to see what it looks like in the water I haven't had a chance to fish it yet. If my recollection of this bait is correct it looks like it might be more effective using a slower retrieve than the regular King Shad which is a bait I tend to fish fast with the occasional twitch.

I haven't had a chance to fish the Baby shad but did fish its big brother with no success. I think for the waters I fish here that the Baby Version will be a better choice, so I will be getting a few for the season to try.

they do seem a little week i was fishing a tournament a few weeks ago and i picked one of the baby king shads up after the first day of the tournament at bps and i was going to use it on day two. well i caught a nice 3 pounder on it and lost one about that size then i went to cast it up under a dock and the bait barely clipped the corner post of the dock and broke it in half i spent 15 dollars on that thing and only got to use it 2 hours  >;) but over all its a great looking bait and has caught fish for me i would suggest getting a few for your tacklebox
