I currently have a humminbird 597ci HD DI at the console with the transducer mounted to the bottom of the transom.

I am thinking about adding another 597 ci HD DI on the bow with a transducer mounted to the trolling motor.

My question or concern is whether or not the transducers will interfer with each other?

Boat is a 2001 Procraft 185 pro 18.5' length.

I know that it will only be an issue while the trolling motor is deployed but I would like to use both 597's while trolling.

put the one not in use in standby and you wont have any problems.

I had issues back when I had 2 Garmins. I ended up getting a D/F transducer for the transom and ran it at a different frequency than the bow. Had the same problem when I went to my HDS-5/HDS-7 set-up, even tho I was told they wouldn't interfere with each other. I just run the transom 'ducer at a different frequency.

on a side note, I only saw interference when I was in 20' of water or more. That happened to be the depth that the cones crossed on my 17' boat.

I get a little interference with a H'bird 798 and 788, mainly on very rocky bottoms in more than 25 feet of water. They will tend to "fade out" a little. Pulling the trolling motor or stopping the other will correct it, although I have not found it to be a huge problem.

Any two units operating on the same frequency at the same time will cross-talk if the sonar pulses overlap. They can be the same brand or different brands.

The Side Imaging and Structure Scan technology will cross-talk at long distances since their sonar pulses are transmitted horizontally. I have seen cross-talk from other boats that were 100' or more from me. I use Humminbird Side Imaging equipment.

My boat is a 19' and I don't have a problem until the water gets over 100'. Distance transduc ers are apart and cone angles would have an effect.

If you experience cross talk then you can change the angle of the trolling motor transducer just a few degrees making it point more forward. I have done this with success in the past.

That is what I was thinking......at the depth the signals met or crossed I would get some interference.
