Need New Bass Reel

Featured Replies

Im looking for a new reel to pair up with a Abu Garcia Veritas. Im looking for it to stay around 50 to 80 dollars, any suggestions?

Well, if you want a quality reel that has an aluminum frame, you would want to bump up your limit to around $100, but at your price range the Lew's Laser MG Speed Spool (graphite frame) and the Abu Garcia Pro max (graphite frame) should do you good.

Interesting that a fellow that asks for so much advice on the most basic tackle is now an expert on reels.

Deff bump up to a aluminum frame. Get something quality that you will be happy with. Citica, Speed Spool, Revo S, if you want to stay in the low 100's.

I find it even more interesting that nobody thought to ask the OP if he was looking for a baitcast or spinning reel before making suggestions.

There's no way I'd pay that much for a used Citica. I bought a brand new one for less than that, back when the 200e was the current model.

Excellent feedback RW; wouldn't expect anything less from a mod, awesome.

To the OP, you can search several threads on this forum and get the same advice VinnieT already gave you. Most reels in the $100 price range will be satisfactory and quality (Citica, RevoS, Pro Qualifier, Carbonlite, etc....)

I would recommend the Pro Qualifier from Bass Pro. It retails for $100, but can often be found for $80, especially during the Spring Classic if you can hold out for a little while. Good luck.

That's about the going price for them now. I remember seeing them on sale somewhere for $80 new a while back, but they're all bought up now and the price actually went up on them. I see them selling for more than that used all the time. Everyone misses the E series.

I'll 2nd the BPQ at $80 on sale. Your price range was $50-$80 aluminium framed reels can be had for that kind of price range.
