Lake Wallenpaupack

Featured Replies

Anybody ever fish here? Got any tips or secret spots?

I opened this because that sounds like it could be the name of a lake around here. Guess not. Never been there.

I live about 30 min. from there, but have never fished there. I won't take my boat out on that monster. My Dad's friend lives on the lake and seems to know where the Hybrid Stripers are. If I manage to talk to him, I will ask.

Please do! I've never went after any species other than Largemouth or Smallmouth.

It's a good lake for striped bass. Most guys fish deep for them. It's a pretty good sized lake with a lot of water sport activities ( jet ski's, water skiing etc.). You need a decent sized boat to cover the whole lake. the weekends are pretty packed up there too. I live 20 miles away. I'll talk to some buddies and get more info for you

I only know a few things: fish the 10'-15' drop offs and points. The crawfish in there are watermelon/blue with orange tips on their claws. Drop shot like a boss!!!!

Wallenpaupack can be a great lake and a difficult lake at the same time. Most days in the summer the lake is so packed you don't want to be anywhere out there. A lot of the tournaments on the weekend are at night for that reason, or they end before noon.

I'm a terrible drop shot fisherman so I am not the person to ask about that. There are plenty of big largemouth in there to be caught shallow and smallmouth can be caught shallow most nights. As the poster above me said, crawfish imitating baits are the best thing for most of the lake, except maybe up the creek by Ledgedale. In tournaments the lunker is usually over 5 lbs, last year it was over 6 lbs more than a few times.

double willow spinner bait, green pumpkin tube, and a soft swim bait a skinny dipper in gray or black

thats all you need, fish the docks and submerged brush
