hi guys!

 

so im tying my own spinnerbaits and i do everything perfectly right up until i have to close the spinnerbait wire

 

for example i but the clevis, beads, blades etc.. and the only thing i can't figure out is how to bend the wire shut!

 

please help!

I use my round nosed pliers and make a complete circle.  You and take needle nosed and get it done.  Just be sure you have the gap closed so you won't lose your swivel.

I do something similar to what Jig Man does. I take regular long nose pliers. Grab the tag end and bend it over into a loop. Now I take the tag end and make sure I overbend it so it sticks past the existing wire by an 1/8". At this point I take that overbent tag end and bend it back into the wire so the tension is held up against the original wire. This will avoid any gaps in the two wires touching, thus keeping the ball bearing swivel from ever falling out.

I've been giving that a try but i still can't get it and the wire seems to be bending right or left, so the bait will not track straight
