Color C Lector question

Featured Replies

Is this type of technology still used and how exactly does it function> From what I know,Its supposed to read the clarity of the water, and select the color of bait that will be seen best...Am I right?

Is there more to it? How accurate is it at helping to choose colors?

Anyone ever thrown the colors the selector advised and came up "skunked" on that color but then threw a different color than what it advised and done well?

I own a unit, inherited from a friend when he passed away, actually I lived the CC "approved" baits, after the device appeared in the market every single manufacturer finished his baits to match the recommendations of the CC. I have many baits from that era.

My friend who was an aficionado of any theoretically fishing improvement or fishing enhancement technollogy just had to purchase the gadget, I can bet without any reason to doubt it that if he were alive now he would have purchased a BSX unit.

To make the story short, he armed with his unit did not catch more fish than I without the use of the unit. The only reason why I haven 't thrown it away it 's beacuse it has sentimental value. It has been gathering dust for more than a decade.

So, my take: save them hard earned dollars for something really valuable like a good depthfinder.

A friend of mine bought one years ago and drove us nuts saying we were using the wrong colors. I think he ended up giving it the deep six. ;D ;D Save your money. 8-)

You're right, it was designed to indicate which color is seen the best under the conditions at the time. Which is not the same as saying it's the color that the fish will hit the best, which the inventor readily admitted.

Years ago my partner had one and after a while he stopped bringing it along. We never saw any evidence that it helped us catch as much as one additional fish.

don't waste your money. Just do some research and you can find out what general colors work in different types of water. Sometimes, color doesn't matter much at all , sometimes it's a difference of a shade or two.
