Nice video, I use a tool that does a nail to nail that I have never once had fail. In fact, I tie all of my custom fly leaders this way and have put many 15lb steelhead on them. This tool allows me to make the connection in under a minute.

This way you are doing it is great if youre not in a giant hurry!

That's a back to back Uni.  Unless the line diameters are very similar, they have a tendency to fail for me. I use an Alberto knot, or modified Albright for a better mainline to leader connection.

I have had the same experience but the one way to combat it is either use a different knot or use a few more wraps for the smaller diameter line.

I have been using the seguar knot when i use leaders here lately with some good success.

You can also double the smaller braided line with a spider hitch knot.  I just find tying one knot easier and quicker than tying two.

Directions:

1. Look up Uni to Uni knot directions

2. Tie knot

3. Test strength

4. Create workarounds for different line types and/or different line diameters

5. Switch to Alberto knot

6. Never look back

thanks for all the info and informing me of the actual name of the knot.it has been reliable I do agree that more wraps with smaller diameter line is better which is something I should have stated in the video.

That's a nice video and a great knot everyone should know how to tie. The idea about the rods would be good because people are always looking for more information on a expensive piece of equipment like that before they buy it.
