do they really use it all?

Featured Replies

Ive noticed with pro bass fisherman they seem to have every kind of soft plastic in every color and size do they really use all of them or are most of them for their sponsors?

I have quite a bit myself, and I'm unsponsored, I think they have their favorites. if i was sponsored i would use them all and would be glad to tell you about their attributes, and fish catching qualities. :D

I look at it like this, if someone was willing to give me tons of lure in all shapes, colors, and sizes...i would definitely accept their gracious gift and find a spot for them

Ive stocked up on all sorts of Soft Plastics. All sorts of colors, types of creatures, beavers, soft stick baits,worms,finesse,dropshot,Lizards..You name it.Yep the Bait Monkey has been whispering in my ear ALOT!!!

Am I ever gonna use all these baits?...Most likely not,but I know there will come a time when the fish will be so picky that they will only bite on one type of Plastic bait...And if I didnt carry it with me,I would likely get skunked.I take everything with me for that added insurance.

My motto is "Better to have it and not need it,than to need it and not have it"

Couldn't of said it any better myself.

It must work for the sponsors because if a pro wins a tourney on a bait we all run out and buy it.

That is the way I see it too.  I keep a bunch of different types in different colors in my boat too, some may only come out once if at all in year, but it is nice to have the options on days with tough bites.

Amen :D

you also have to remember these guys are fishing many lakes. Also what works in one section of a lake, might not work in a different section. Sometimes the difference in catching a fish is changing a bait to something that is one or two shades different than what they are using.

Nope. But if ya got 'em and have room to carry 'em, best to have them with you. Tubers have to be way more selective in what we carry, but then again, there aren't too many "Pro Bass Fishermen" who fish from float tubes/pontubes:o)

I think we can all agree that we have more stuff than we need. But we can't stop.

National Pros fish such a wide spectrum of lakes and rivers, they might need to have that kind of selection to meet what's most effective on that respective body of water.  The rest of us fish much more local and are often influenced by what we read in the rags and see on TV and do what the sponsors hope we will do, buy stuff.  I wish I had more discipline.  I would have less than half of the product I now "store" because I revert back to what works and what I have the most confidence in.  My goal this year is to SIMPLIFY my fishing.  Don't get me wrong, buying a new lure or color sometimes creates some excitement to try it on the next trip.   :-/
