Shimano Sahara Spinning Reel

Featured Replies

Probably getting this reel in the 2500fd model sometime soon, any of you guys use it? Is it a good bass fishing reel?

Welcome to Bass Resource. Fellow Louisiana guy here. To answer your question, I have a 2500 FD on a St. Croix and I love it. However, any posts relating to reels, rods, line, etc have their own forum area about halfway down the forum. Don't be surprised if this gets moved there.

What uses are you wanting out of it?

I have 2 of them and love them.  If I needed more spinning reels, they would be the one I'd buy.

I have two of them as well. Outstanding reel. Good size for most bass fishing too. You will not be disappointed. :)

Great work horse of a reel... it will serve you well.

Yep, great reel. Smooth retrieve and drag. Hardly any line tangles around the bail either. Priced right as well.

i bought the sahara 2500 a few years back when i really got back into fishing, its a very smooth quality reel for the money. A bit heavy, but you dont get the lighter shimanos until you step up to the stradics...

Glad to see alot of great reviews! Looking forward to getting it and will probably post a review myself after using it for a little while. Tight lines to all of you!

Saharas no matter what series they belong to are always excellent very reasonably priced reels.
