I've been looking for a good custom rod shop around Raleigh and have looked into JB and Cashion.  I'm looking for a place that might offer some sort of entry level deal so that I can have a chance to see if it is worth it or not to purchase these rods.  It is hard for me to justify $200+ for rods when I am looking into 5-10 of them...and when I have done perfectly fine in the past with $60-100 rods.  Heck, the new Powell Diesel rods are a dream for me right now.  Anyway, give me some pros and cons and prices for some custom rods.  Thanks in advance

That would be silly. Build one and see how you like it before committing to a bunch.

I have a couple of custom builds which I like just fine, but not better than comparably

priced G. Loomis or St. Croix.

 

Although you may be able to find a custom build cheaper, I suspect that the better

builders are going to price their rods beginning around $250. Alpster built one for

me at "no cost" for all his labor. The blank and components were $175 wholesale.
