Shimano Chronarch

Featured Replies

I use shimano curado d series reels. How do the chronarch E series compare? I haven't use any of the newer shimano reels, and I understand the chronarch E is mostly the same as the curado e.

Well, the D is a different world. Some say the DS were the best reels made, some say the Es were. I like them all. Loved my Bs and Ds, and currently got another 100B. I have a full arsenal of Es currently because I like the way they fit my hands better. I do miss my Ds, but honestly they are all good.

I have a Chronarch E5, Curado E7, and a Curado DSV 300. They're all awesome reels. I haven't used any of the "G" series yet, but will probably pick up a curado or citica.  I think you'll be very pleased with a Chronarch E purchase.

The E is a bit lower profile than the D. The 200 size is more like a 100 size.  Aside from some gear ratio changes, the Chronarch E and Curado E are virtually the same.

I love the D series Curado's, in my opinion they were the best ones. Having said that I haven't fished any 200 size E series Curado's but I do have 4 Citica E's that I really like and they are very similar to the Curado E's. They are going to feel totally different, form wise, from your current D series reels but they really are very good little reels. I don't think you would be going wrong purchasing a new Chronarch E at all.

On a side note I do own 51 & 301 E Curado's and love them as well. The 51 is just so great at casting smaller lures and it pitches amazing due to it's low spool weight. The 301 is just a tank, I use mine for A-Rigs and bigger swimbaits.

Thanks, I stopped to take a look at the reels in bass pro this week. I need to stay out of the store. But; I might try a newer model sometime soon.

I'm a shimano guy, but I tend to lean away from the newer models. I'm just not that impressed with many of very recent years models.
