Gamagatsu weedless widegap wacky hooks

Featured Replies

I 've been using these hooks in the 1/0 size with great success on 4 inch senko's in the ca delta.  They are great on my kayak because there is no need for a solid hookset,  so when I am way out of position and get a bite, no problem.  But I've been told that I should be trying a larger worm for the delta,  so I have some 6" 9L's to try tomorrow.  Do you think that these hooks are big enough for such a big worm?  Or should I try a different hook.  It seems like it would not take much of a 9L sized senko to fill up these small hooks when the bass balls it up in her mouth.

You really need it to be weedless ? because there 's an even better hook than the Gamakatsu for wacky rigging and it 's available in larger sizes but it 's not weedless: Owner Mutu Light hook, I use 1/0 for 3" senkos, 2/0 for 4" and 3/0 for 5" senkos.

i use Mustad weedless wacky in 1/0 with 5" senkos and have had no problem..so i don't think one more inch would make that much difference.....but goin to a 3/0 wouldn't hurt either i suppose... and Mustad makes the 3/0 too

The Gammie weedless widegap wacky hooks are available in 3/0, 4/0,5/0 and 6/0.  I got some last year from Bass Pro.  They work ok but I think the Falcon K-wacky hooks are better.  JMO

Most guys I know who fish those use Gammy G-Locks. They have such a small gap they are just about weedless and have a better hook-up ratio. When around the grass they pop it like a tube to avoid getting snagged up.

I like to use a VERY light keel hook for wacky rigging... the main reason being that the bait ALWAYS falls with the hook side up... I almost never get hung up, doesn't matter where i'm throwing it, and always hooks the fish in the top lip. Going any heavier than 1/8 oz will mess up the action of the bait, but 1/8 or less and I feel like it gives a more pronounced wobble. Also great for wacky rigging in deeper water.

When wacky rigging I always use either a 2/0 or 3/0

I used these hooks for trick worms and did awsome, sometimes you dont even have to set the hook!
