Bright Red Plastics?
I bought some sweet beavers in the rhythm and blues color. When they're in the water they are bright red. Much brighter than I expected. I've ended up with that color in a couple custom plastics, also. When should I throw that color? Muddy water? Clear? Is it popular in some part of the country? I'm in the ca delta, and my goal this year is to catch fish on lots of the tackle I own but never give a chance. When should I give this color some time? Thanks in advance.

Can I buy an out of state used boat and bring it to California?
Thanks Manavoodoo, I was hoping someone one this site had already done what I am hoping to do. After a couple hours on the ca gov site that Burleytog gave me I finally found a link instructions for bringing in a boat from another state. Looks like any motor older than 2001 will be no problem, and any two stroke made in 2001 or later will have a star somewhere indicating that it was manufactured to ca. specs. Thanks everyone for all the help.

Can I buy an out of state used boat and bring it to California?
I'm not trying to avoid taxes, just widen my search area for a used boat. The Ca.gov website page says nothing about bringing a boat in from out of state, and when I checked the "buying or selling a vessel" page, it only has info for buying a vessel already registered in Ca. That website reminds me of the department of fish and game's website, very confusing. I saw a cool boat in Idaho, but I'd like to know what I am getting into before taking a serious look at it.

Can I buy an out of state used boat and bring it to California?
Can I buy a used boat in another state and bring it to california? Are there emission laws here in Ca., or any other problems, that would stop me? Thanks in advance.

Great post, I just made a copy!

punching the mats in fall and winter?
I think of punching as a summer thing, which I have been trying to learn ( on the Ca delta). Is there a water temperature below which punching no longer works, or can I keep on finding bass under the mats all year long? Thanks in advance.

Dobyns Savvy/Duckett Micro Magic
Micros are also more fragile than regular guides. Not really a good thing with a loaner rod. And Dobyns has proven customer service.

Making a Shallow Spool....??
For reels with 15 lb and above flouro, I use hollow braid, 60 lb jerry brown or 40 lb power pro hollow ace. The hollow ace is easier to work with but needs more length of line inserted to get a good hold. I hate having a knot that I can feel on the spool, and this way I can use a shorter length of flouro and not worry about getting down to the backing line if I hook a huge striper or get lazy about adding line after too many reties. The lower pound tests get an albright knot with a strip of electrical tape over it to help hold the knot down.

weedless hook for 3" and 5" grubs?
I've been using a slider type hook for this because its the only thing I could find small enough, but the grubs continually fall down on the hook. Anyone know of a good hook to deliver my grubs weedless through the grass beds?

bub tosh's revised snell knot and flouro?
Bub's version looks much easier to tie, but still pretty close to a regular snell knot, so I guess I'll try my luck with that. If it breaks my heart, I'll try the others. Thanks.

bub tosh's revised snell knot and flouro?
In his video Bub says his knot works great with braid, no mention of flourocarbon. Any of you flipping with flouro snell your knots? Do you use Bub's modified version, or some other? Thanks in advance.

Bird on the end of your line?
I hooked a pelican and my buddy told me just reel it in, grab it by the back of the neck and unhook it. Worked great. the bird actually calmed down once I had a good grip. But I don't know if it will work with other species of birds.

weedless grass minnows bent from sun
I keep my huddleston weedless grass minnows in a 3700 series plastic box. In the summer sun they sometimes end up bent and they will not swim right. Is there another way to store these which will avoid this? And is there a way to straighten them out? Thanks.

shad species in ca delta?
Cool picture. Thanks.

matt lures yes or no
I know you fish from the bank, so that is understandable. While on a boat, a good plug knocker will pay for itself the first time out. If that doesn't work, 60 bucks is worth a quick swim.

shad species in ca delta?
Thanks, guess I'll try both.

I am looking to order some 2.5" Mattlures Mattshad for the delta. Should I get american, threadfin or gizzard?

shad spawn lures?
The shad rap no 7 has been a magic lure for me since I started this post, but I can only use it in a few spots where the grass is not too shallow.

Why am I gut hooking so many fish?
That's an awesome idea. I'm going to try that.

shad spawn lures?
Thanks, love getting lots of suggestions for things to try.

shad spawn lures?
The shad are spawning in the delta, and yesterday my only three keepers came when reeling in a three inch smoke senko. I never got bit on the fall or on larger sizes, except for dinks. What should I try to target the bass that are keying in on the shad? Spinnerbaits? Crankbaits? Visibility is from 3' in the river to maybe 7' in pockets.

I thought you were crazy at first too, but that's very cool.

Shimano Cumulus 7'1" MHXF
I found mine to be uncomfortable after a few hours fishing. It is just a little tip heavy, and combined with the handle, which feels smaller to me compared to my loomis or dobyns cork handles, I get "the claw" much faster when using the cumulus. I started with a core on it, and have recently changed to a steez reel, which has a larger profile and seems to help some. I'm sure it depends on how you grip and the size of your hands, but I would definitely put a reel on one at the store and check it out before you buy. On the other hand, it is as sensitive as my glx mbr842 and it has more power than you'd expect from holding it in the store.
