Nrx Spinning Rods

Recommended Posts

I have been tempted by the tackle warehouse sale to upgrade from my legend elite spinning rod (es70mf) which is 4-5 years old to a nrx spinning rod.I have never owned a loomis rod and i was wondering if i pulled the trigger would i expect a huge difference in sensitivity between the two?

The elite/legend St. Croix rods are more comparable to the GLX series rods from Loomis. The NRX's kind of stand on their own platitude as far as sensitivity goes. You will feel more with the NRX series rods, but I guess it depends on what you mean by a "huge difference". To me, the difference is worth it, but to others it may not be. Either way, with the sale that is going on right now, you will not have a problem getting your money back. What rod are you looking at getting?

You will feel some difference between the two but that isn't to say you can't feel basically everything that goes on down there with an elite/xtreme scv blank if that makes sense. I can't recall how many years ago st. criox switched the elite/xtreme blanks to scv but I think it's been within the past 2-3. So if you are fishing an older svIV blank then you will notice more of a difference. It would be a cheaper route to just upgrade your st. croix through them for the trade in charge to a new scV elite 7mf blank if price is of a concern to you. The scV blanks are some of the best blanks on the market for rod builders and stock rods. If you are wanting to try an NRX though you will love it. I own both and there are rods that I will choose the xtreme over the nrx based on how the blank and tip action works with the build.
