Compre Or Crucial

Featured Replies

Im planning on grabbing a 7' ml/f spinning rod for an all around travel rig. Im stuck between the compre and crucial. I've had compres in the past and always liked them. Is the crucial worth the extra cash? Im also curious about those reel seats. Any opinions on the two?

Thanks

At full price id go compre, if you can find them on sale then get the crucial...

I always eyed the Crucial drop shot rod (before the redesign), and the Avid spinning rods, but I could only afford the Compre.

Been happy with the Compre's, but I know they're a "step down" from the Crucials and Avids. So if I had the money, I'd probably go for the Crucial.

I've considered the avids but I keep reading that they're stiffer than rated.I'd like a true ML.

That's true, Tony. My new Premier is a M, but definitely a tad stiffer than my other M rated rods. I was at BPS last night and handled a Daiwa T (the blue and black rods) and boy are they nice for the money, too.

just checked those out. they do look pretty nice but not exactly what im currently looking for.

i did have a triumph (or it may have been a premier?) and it was pretty heavy for what it was. while it was sensitive, it felt more like a MH than the M it was rated at. i think i need to plan a trip to my BPS and handle some rods.

Crucial. Its a whole different monster of a rod. I love mine. Plus to get the lifetime replacement warranty, you have to get the Crucial or the Cumara.

Pretty much all of the Shimano line have the life time warranty.. Starting from the convergence all the way to the cumara. The only line that carries they're lower 1 year warranty is the Sellus & below. A easy way to tell is if the paper on the handle, Green= limited life time, Blue= one year.

I've used the warranty for a clarus and a compre in the past. Excellent service from shimano

Actually, the lifetime warranty starts with the Convergenace line of rods (usually around $59), but per the OP, if it comes down to price, the Compre, if you can get the Crucial on sale then Crucial hands down.

I should of mentioned this will be a 2 piece travel rod.

I was set on the compre to begin with but if the crucial is worth the extra...

Don't think you'd go wrong either way.

I currently have 8 Crucials, a Compre and a Clarus. All different lengths, powers and actions. I love the Crucial line of rods, but the Clarus is a great rod as well. If money isnt an option, just get the Crucial. That way later you wont find yourself saying "wish I would have got the Crucial."
