Im getting a new spinning rod and was wanting to know everyone's opinion  comparing the normal guides to the micro guides? Is there any advantages to the micro guides other than not having  giant bulky lower guides?

The main advantage I believe is a reduction in overall weight of the rod due to the micro guides.

Being that you live up north I would suggest not getting micro guides. Micro guides freeze faster and that can cause hell on your rod, line and presentation.

They have to add more guides to the rod to keep the line off the blank, that makes the rod feel dead.

I said micro, only because they are easier to fit in my rod sleeves and give the rod a little cleaner look. All that distance/accuracy hype associated with micros I feel is just marketing.

never tried micro guides idk

Standard guide on a spinning rod, you don't have to worry about using more guides on a SP rod the line always falls away from the blank anyway.

The weight saved using micro guides is very slight at best..Mostly used as marketing hype, for rack rods... :Victory:

Tight Lines!  :fishing1:

On a spinning rod I would get regular guides I dont see how micro guide would benefit a spinning rod.

I like micro guide the guides get hung up on stuff less. I find that pitching/flipping is where micro guides really shine IMO they are more accurate and will pitch further. In a normal overhand cast I dont think there is much of difference.

I have two exact rods the only difference is the guides they even have the same line and bait. If I close my eyes I can tell them apart and pick the micro guide everytime.
