Pflueger Templar

Featured Replies

Just picked up a Plueger Temlar today  7 ball bearing and 6.4:1 ratio along with 2 veritas rods. Ive got Pflueger Echelon ive had for years and it still performs like the day i got it. For a cheaper reel has anyone tried this reel before? Thanx

For cheap reels I've got an old pflueger asaro and its still going very strong and smooth after 5 years and I haven't had to take it apart once at all

I have 5 Pfluegers, 3 used in fresh and 2 in salt.  None of them have ever needed service of any kind and perform like the day I bought them, cannot make that claim for any other brand I own.  Not an endorsement just a fact.

The only draw back i have seen to these reels is line capacity, although i have never ran out of line while fishing. Both reels of Pfluegers are super smooth and cast for a mile for 60 bucks i dont think you can beat them. I have an Abu Garcia Black Max and the Pfluegers are just better.

I have a templar along with a president and president xt spinning reels.

The templar is a nice reel, just as good as all the other pfluegers.

It's a decent reel for the price. Mine lasted about 2.5 years before it crapped out and I used the crap out it. I handled fish up to about 6 pounds. You can feel it start to flex and loosen up, then you'll know it's getting ready to go.

I guess you can't expect them to last forever. Been thinking about getting a Lews tournament mg. So far i have 2 Pfluegers, 1 Revo sx, and 1 black max.

I really liked it right up until the time it went (and it went quick). Since then I've gotten mostly PQs. The next one will be a Lews.

My little brother just gave me one of these.  He bought, tried it and then never used it again cuz he said it was a pain the the ass.  This will be my first baitcaster and Im pretty excited to try it out.  I just wish he had taken better care of it.  I don't know how you get mud all over a reel you hardly used.  It still reels good though.  Im gonna clean it up as best I can and if I have any problems, Ill think about sending it out to DVT and have them take a look at it.  Now Im off to the video section to check out Glenn's video and learn how to use this thing.
