My first fish on a fluke.

Featured Replies

I recently purchased some Zoom Salty Super Fluke in a Smokin Shad color. I had never used them before so I googled them on the internet and read how to to rig them up. I finally got to use them this afternoon. The first fish to strike at it looked like a white bass (called a stripe around here). I missed it, didn't get the hook set. We drifted on down a bit around some submerged rocks and threw over them. When the bait came over the last rock 3 bass came out after it. The middle one took it and i set the hook and landed it. The next 2 were caught in and around the rocks the same way. It felt good to catch fish this way. I look forward to using them more this spring and this summer.

Use a sweep instead of a snap..keeping line somewhat taut and you'll feel that bump...don't be afraid to let that thing sink back down as they usually hammer it as it does a dying minnow effect..I fish mine on spinning gear with 8 lb test..watermelon seed, albino, smokin shad rigged on a 3/0 gamakatsu ewg...awesome bait...if they don't bite that...theres no fish there.. ;)
