Choice Of Heat Gun And Toaster Ovens

Featured Replies

I know most of you are heating your jigs with a heat gun.  What do you consider a good

gun and what to stay away from.

Also what settings are you using, HI or Low when heating your jigs.

I have been searching for adequate toaster ovens.  I don't want one of those small

one that cost 15 dollars, but the regular size, and has a place for the upper rack..

Any imput appreciated.

I have (2) Wagner digitals for 5 years and still use my first one, second one is a back-up. The multiple heat lets you do multiple colors without burning the paint. I would not do without mine. I would stay away from Menards tool shop brand, bought two of them to try out. One shorted out as soon as I plugged it in, the other went out after 2 days. Wagner also private labels if you can find them. If you want something basic, then deifintely a high, med low heat setting.

As far as toaster ovens go. Buy the biggest you can afford. I have an old B&D spacemaker oven that is serving me well.

I saw one of the Wagners the other day in Wallys world, and was looking at one of the B&D's as well.  First thing

I get is going to the Toaster, as I have about 60 jigs painted waiting in a plastic container.  My building area is

coming along real nice, and I like these new methods of painting.  Unfortunately I poured off about 40 jigs, and

dipped them in the powder paint, the tied on new skirts, before I realized I had to bake them.  They may chip some

but I suspect they will all catch fist.  All new jigs will baked prior to skirts.  I guess most of my questions are well

satisified for now.   Appreciate the comeback.

Realistically, you will catch fish on an unpainted jig with a trailer as well. I'm not saying color doesn't matter, however color is more for the fisherman than the fish. I have fished many worn out jig with no paint and they catch fish as well as their painted counterparts. It's all about presentation and finding fish.

I don't sell jigs any longer so I don't need quite as good as cadman and others.  My heat gun is a high/low from Harbor Freight and my toaster oven is a $2 one from a garage sale that I remodled using a baking pan from wally world and an old grill.

Here is the one I use. It's around 50 bucks as Wally World. I started with a smaller one that was around $20, but soon outgrew it. There are 138 heads hanging in the oven in this pic so it's got plenty of room.
