Is bass fishing in the rain on a river any good?? I have never fished in the rain, but I just got all my stuff for bass fishing and its supposed to rain this weekend...but I still want to fish super bad. Will it harm my BPS Pro Qualifier baitcaster reel? Any tips??

 

I got jigs, crankbaits, spinner baits, tons of plastics for drop shot or texas rig..some other stuff too 

Rain shouldn't harm any of your gear. Be sure to dry everything when you get home. I have had the best luck with spinnerbaits. Good luck, and let us know how you do.

 

I do my fishing on a  lake. I am not sure what river you are fishing, but I would be sure to monitor the current if you are wading, and wear a PFD for safety reasons.

It depends on the river you are fishing and water temp. I know here on the Potomac river fishing in the rain can be amazing when the waters at least 70 degrees. Top water i.e buzzbaits, poppers, walking baits are great during those conditions spinners and chatter baits work well too.

Fishing gear should be fine if you dry your equipment after your trip.

One thing is for sure you can't catch them from the coach:)

As long as the water levels are safe I'd go for it. Fishing in the rain is just like any other time except the sky is usually overcast, which is good. The fish are wet already, the rain don't bother them.

It depends a lot on what river you are planning to fish and what type of boat you are planning to take. Swifter narrower rivers naturally take more care to maneuver in, in the rain, than slower wider rivers as they are more affected by rising water and increasing current. Rain on a river also affects fish; bass will be in slower more protected waters or deeper in the water column where the current is less powerful. In general it is fine to fish rivers in the rain, but as in previous post when the levels are too high it can be really dangerous. Additionally if you are planning on fishing from a kayak or canoe you need to be very cautious, plan ahead, and just take the safety aspect of it seriously. Enjoy, give us a report on it

Make sure to dry your reels and equipment and make sure theres no water in your plano boxes before you put your stuff up. Historically, ive done quite well in the rain. Go figure.

Very light weather system moving through from the Pacific across Arizona shouldn't be an issue, unless the area you fish is subject to flash flooding. Rain water doesn't harm your tackle. The cloud cover usually makes the bass more actives. Stay dry and good luck.

I love fishing the Deleaware River when it starts raining. The smallmouth seem to turn on then. I break out the cabin creek salty spider and we have 30+ fish days. Not sure why but we don't care we just know it happens. If raining for a couple of days we wait for the water to go down and clear a little.

Alright cool yea water levels isnt a big deal I will be fishing from the shore. I will try out my spinner baits
