Falcon Bucoo Rods...weaker Than Rated?

Featured Replies

I'm in the market for a Bucoo, but just going by lure weights it seems that a heavy would be more in line with a MH from most rod companies. If anyone has this rod, can you confirm this?

Confirmed. I have the 6'10h pitchin' stick. It's definetly the same as my 6'9mh Cashion

Yes, all Falcons are.  Kinda why I went away from them but I still got a Cara 6'10" Heavy and a Lowrider 6'10" Heavy.  I'll stick to my St.Croix's..

Wally world had a 6"10 MH but man it was whippy for a MH and was only rated for 3/4oz I believe. Wanted to do some deep cranking with one of these, but knew the MH wasn't the one for me.

Yep its common to go up a power with falcon rods.

They do make decent moving bait rods though.  I wouldn't use one to punch a mat or worm and jig fish though.

A lot of higher end rods are rated at mh 3/4 oz. doesn't mean u shouldn't move up a step with the falcon just saying.

Falcons seemed to have a more moderate taper than competing rods, which is why I moved away. (Atleast in the Bucoo and Lowrider). I prefer a F or XF for most of my techinques, but I believe the lower lure rating is because of the softer tips, but I could be wrong.

I like how they are a little under rated I use a few of there heavy rated rods which are a little heavier then the avg MH rod but lighter then a true heavy.
