dykes work very well. not only for lines but for anything you may need to cut. ive carried a pair for the longest until i was gifted a small swiss army knife one xmas. it was the type with the red led light on the end. the scissors on those always worked very well for me. it has a small clip that i attach to my forceps. keeps everything together.

That's what I use too. One pair of $2 scissors lasts all season.......that is in normal peoples hands. In my case, I buy several. I hide two or three pairs some where in the boat where I will never find them again, throw two pairs in the lake because that's where they usually end up, and still have a couple pairs left over to use.

I use Dr. Slick scissor clamps. They aren't cheap, but they are multi-taskers. Besides cutting braid, they are also good hook removers. They clamp shut so I clamp them to my shirt where they are always handy.

Those look slick.  I've launched a few hemostats overboard unhooking a thrashing hammer handle that decided to hit my bass plug.  I might have to find a set of those and put a dummy cord and float on them.  Thanks!

Ok. I finally bit the bullet and bought the Snip (no LED) on ebay yesterday. 11.99 + free shipping.

 

Heard enough good about them here and other forums.

 

My surgical snips are fantastic, but I have caught my arm on them a couple times - no cuts, just the "point" which reminds me time after time that I need a safer alternative.

 

Have them mounted on my PFD, so the Snip should be much safer alternative.

I too bit the bullet and purchased the snip. Can't wait to try it out.

another vote for the snip, this will be my second year on them and still happy!
