Heddon Crazy Crawler, Arbogast Jointed Jittergub & Hula Popper

Featured Replies

Where do you fish these, when, and how? Also, the crazy crawler arms stick and make it spin, how do i fix this?

I had success with it over a 6-12 foot weed bed early in the morning, haven't really experimented with it too much. I assume it can be used in similar areas as the jitterbug.

On mine the arms stuck as well, so i took a pair of pliers and gently bent out a little less than a quarter inch of the tips of the arms so that they would easily catch water and open up.

Throw them around bank cover 2+ feet water. Throw count to 3 ,pop, and repeat till line is in. I have found the jitterbug to work well at night and also making several cast to a same location annoys a fish until they strike.

Black Jitterbugs as a prime lure for nightfishing.  I fish them slow and steady with repeated, long casts over deep structure and cover.

I have a jointed jitterbug in perch (normal size). The hula popper is the 3/8oz one i believe, it's the larger one and it's in yellow with a red and yellow skirt. And the Crazy crawler is in the bull frog pattern, normal size.

Check the hinges where the wings of the Crazy Crawler are attached, if the wire that attaches the wig is slightly bent the wing sticks, also check the holes or how the wire is hammered, if it 's too flat the wings stick too.

Is it possible to fish it too fast or slow?

Too fast: the bait wobbles, spins and dives.

Too slow: it doesn 't wobble at all so it makes no noise.
