First Trip Of Season Results

Featured Replies

This past saturday my brother, a friend of his and myself set out for the first fishing trip of the season. Our lake of choice was cedar creek lake located in Stanford, Kentucky. According to KY G&F, the lake is #2 best bass fishing lakes in KY. We were all excited to finally get out on the water, however, our first trip ended up being a bummer.

The weather the previous saturday was around 65, so we decided to plan the trip for the next saturday so the water could warm up. That sunday night a cold front came through dropping the weeks average temperatures around 45 degrees. The water temperture at cedar creek hovered around 45-48 degrees. We were hoping for at least 50 degrees but that didnt happen. To add fuel to the fire, cedar creek was hosting a fishing tournament, one of their first of the season making fishing even more difficult. Only one fish out of 15 boats was weighed in.

Needless to say, the first trip was unsuccessful but we all had a good time. To me, thats what its all about, having fun but of course reeling in that 5 pounder always gets your adrenaline going. We decided to pick another trip in April, hopefully we have a better turnout. Hope anyone that was on the water this past weekend had better luck than us!!!

Sorry to hear your first trip of the season didn't go so well.  This stupid weather needs to make up its mind.  It doesn't know whether it wants to be snowing or 60 and sunny.

Definetly agreed, I checked the forecast for around mid April and our temperatures here in ky will be around 60-70 degrees a big improvement considering we have about an inch of snow on the ground as of now. When this weather decides to get out I'm hitting some ponds wide open to redeem myself

Always good to have a small honey hole to redeem yourself. I do the same 8)
