Thanks for the feedback!  I'm not finding much info about the lake on the web.  Do you know of any boat rentals or guides on the lake?

Fellow operates out of Atascadero and hits multiple lakes in the area. If you phone the store at the marina at a lake they can often recommend a local guide though many of the stores will not start to open until April or May.

A great book on fishing spots in California is the book by Tom Stienstra who has been actively fishing all over the state and writtting about it for more than 30 years.

Lopez, San Antonio, Santa Margarita, Naciamento

I/2 day boats out of Port San Luis for rockfish, rental rods/gear - Vermillions, IMO are the all time best eating fish ever.

Oh yeah San Antonio has monster smallmouth ans some good striper, nacimento spotted bass look very sick like they're diseased, they are all just skin and bones

Ended up fishing on the Patriot on a 6 hour salmon trip.  Only one was caught out of 12 anglers.  I never touched my rod all day as the deck hands rigged them on the down riggers and mine never went off.  Did stop by TW.  Small retail shop but friendly staff.  Best part of the trip was the Tri Tip sandwiches and the farmers market!!  Pretty town and nice people too!

The water levels are way down at Naci, Antone and No concessions at Marg. The only lake currently worth fishing is Lopez.

Sounds like the ocean was a bust, too bad, timing is everything.

Tom

Santa margarita= best
