King Shad

Featured Replies

I was thinking about buying one of Strike Kings King Shad but they are $20.00. I wanted to know if anyone here has tried one, and what they think about it before I buy one. I watched the Bassmasters on ESPN this weekend and saw the KVD was catching bass on it so it obviously catches fish, but just wanted to know if anyone has an opinion about it. I live in Central Florida and I fish the St. Johns River a little south of Lake George and I also fish some of the smaller local lakes.  Let me know what you think about the King Shad.

I own one, and I really like it.  I haven't caught one on it, but the swimbait bite is just now starting to come around.  My favorite part about the KS is when you twitch it like a jerkbait, it rolls over and then rolls back upright.  I like working it on a slow retrieve, and adding small twitches in there every so often.

The bait KVD was throwing is actually the original made by ABT.

ABT manufactures both, Strike King and ABT, the only difference between both baits is the color palette, Strike King has color patterns exclusive to Strike King.

I bought a couple, and have fished with them a few times. Amazing action in the water, light enough to throw on MH tackle. I haven't caught any monsters yet, but I really like the action and will continue to throw them.

My thread when I asked the same question:

Tackle Warehouse page on the ABT. Same bait, different colors: http://www.***.com/descpageSWMABT-ABTS.html

The only difference I see between those two baits is the ABT appears to be a 4 inch bait, and the king shad says it is a 5 inch bait.

I just purchased the ABT version for almost $6.00 less than the Strike King version.  The ABT version baits also have better colors.

I used one Senko77 had and wasn't really impressed with it. It was more like a big shallow crankbait than a swimbait. I am glad I tried his first before buying one. Saved me $20.
