Yum Money Hound

Featured Replies

I am going to try this tonight after work.  Caught some on a rage shad and frog lastnight.  Anybody fished this bait? Looks pretty good.

First get a really large hook for rigging it, a 7/0 would be fine, the bait is very beefy and even though the hook pocket is very deep there 's still a lot of plastic to go through and a lot of plastic that chokes the gap of the hook when you set it on a fish. BTW, nope it 's not a soft plastic version of a Zara spook, it does walk the dog but don 't expect it to glide like a Spook. I have a pack and have used it a few ocassions with relatively good results ( lots of strikes but few fish caught ) but it has more to do with me not quite mastered it yet ( kinda like a mental thing, I got to remember that I 'm not fishing a bait with trebles dangling from it ).

Dixon you ever get around to tryen this out?

if so, how'd ya like it?

thought about picking some up myself

i finally got to try mine out the other day.   i missed a pretty nice bass after fishing with it for about 30 minutes.   but the top water bite is not on right now in my area.  it does have good action though.  i think hook ups will be an issue though.

Tim Horton demonstates the Money Hound on the Bass Pros TV show.  He was fishing the 3.5" version in the Black Lab color on 50lb briaid and a 5/0 EWG hook.

I picked up a pack of these and got to try them out this weekend.  They have a really nice action.  I didn't get any bites on it but we had a front come here and the bass didn't seem to want anything fast moving.

I am definitely looking forward to fishing them in more favorable conditions though.  The lakes I fish have a lot of trees and stick-ups and I've had good success getting fish to hit topwaters by running the bait close to the wood.  The problem is with traditional topwaters you get a lot of hang-ups.  That's not a problem with the Money Hound.  You can work them through the limbs no problem.  About the only way to hang one up is if you throw it over a limb and then make the line wrap around the limb when you pull it over.  I threw them into some pretty thick stuff this weekend and didn't get hung once.

I tried the Money Hound out for the first time this weekend.  Your assessment is right on in comparison to a Zara Spook, Raul.  Also, I missed a couple of fish for the same reason.

They are a decent bait but not better then any shad or toad.  Weedless is the main thing.
