Shore Fishing

Featured Replies

I was supposed to go boat fishing with my grandfather tomorrow but the boat is having trouble so we will go shore fishing instead :). Does anyone have tips for types of bait? I am not sure if there is vegetation or not so tips for both will be appreciated. I have a small amount of bait so we might be able to stop at a tackle store to pick some up. Thanks!

By bait, are you referring to live bait (nightcrawlers, minnows)?

Otherwise, when you get to your shore-bound location, scan for any visible structure (fallen trees, etc.). I'd start there. If you're at a dock, start at the dock pylons.

Find a high spot so you can see the structure below the water. Look for cover and try to cast parallel to the waterline for you can. And avoid the branches above you. Lol

You will get more value added responses if you can tell us what kind of water you are fishing - lake, reservoir or river? Which species of bass are you targeting? How clear is the water and what is the temperature? Just a thought. :)

get some 7'' green lizards zoom cant go wrong there thats me go to bait

I will be fishing lake Georgetown in central texas. The water is fairly clear. I will try to catch some Largemouth Bass. I don't know what the temp is as the weather changes around here are insane. It been very humid and there is a chance of rain today.

Crankbaits around structure and/or rock......they're there!!! I tore the fish up yesterday with 3 different Rapala cranks....

Chatter Bait!  You should be able to catch some fish in Georgetown.  Bass are a spawning if you could see any beds from the shore you could trough anything weedless and catch fish. Good Luck

Well my grandfather and I went today. The water has been down for a couple years now and it was ALL rock no vegetation ANYWHERE. We were considering going to a local pond but then some major rain storms came through. We only got to fish for about a hour and a half. I only threw floating plastics because of the rocks with no luck. Just a bad weather, bad luck fishing day.

You could be right.... this could be your mistake :) LOL

Fishing from the shore, with Grandpa, I just couldn't see myself throwing artificials....

Fly-lined crawlers, or shiners under a bobber would probably be a great choice.

Peace,

Fish
