What Exactly Is A Twitch Bait?

I was in WalMart the other night and they had a bargain bin full of these.  They were only like 2 bucks so I figured why not?  Even with my limited fishing experience, I can tell the hooks are garbage and need replacing but that's not a big deal.  The package says Suspending Twitch Bait.  It looks like a jerkbait but there's no lip on it.  I've never fished jerkbaits but I'm pretty sure all the one's I've seen on the BPS/TW websites have lips on them.  Is this bait fished the same way?  Also it says 'Saltwater'.  If its a bait made for saltwater, will fishing it in fresh water affect the buoyancy/the way it suspends?

Twitch Bait

It's basically a subsurface walking bait like the rapala subwalk and a few of the livetarget saltwater lures.

It sounds to me like a bait that suspends in the water colum and doesn't have any action when reeled in so you twitch it with your rod to get the bait to move.

I think I seen one if the TV fisherman demonstrating something of that nature last week. It's not really anything new people been twitching there sinking lures for years. But I imagine since he caught fish on it. They will be all over the place by years end.

Exactly what it is, I use them quite a bit, in freshwter too.  Popular ones are Mirrolure catch 2000 and Bomber boink a doink.  i used the Mirror lure this morning.

So I just walk it like a spook, just underwater?

Yes. Slight rod twitches or short pulls with some slack in your line. Watch how the bait reacts boatside or bankside to get a better feel for what movement makes it work the best.

Fish it pretty much like you would a fluke.

Thanks guys.  I tried it out a bit today.  Didn't catch anything but now I have a good idea of how I need to fish it.
