So i'm sure alot of you have heard of the wacky worm tool, that metal tube you use to slide the O ring onto the worm. These things usually cost about seven to eight bucks, but here's how you can get two for about $1.50

 

 

Go to the sewing section at WalMart and buy a pair of aluminum sewing needles in the largest size they have (the right size is 10mm). These cost about $1.50 for a two pack. (the brand I use is "Boye")

 

 

 

Then all you need to do is cut one in half, then thread a screw into the pointy end, and your all set! You can purchase O rings at any hardware store for about a buck.

 

Hope this helps you guys save a couple bucks...

Love this Idea! It kills me to pay $7 for what a wacky tool is. Gonna give this a try tomorrow. 

Never saw the the need for a wacky tool.  I just rub on smelly jelly and the O ring slides right on.

you can also go on ebay and find the cheapest nasal speculum. It works for a much wider variety of sizes as well.

That’s half the price of a Yum Wacky Tool or one by Field and Stream. Those are the 2 cheapest tools I found on a search $2.99 and $2.49 respectively.

 

And you get 2 DIY tools.

Or if you are in a pinch, use the body of a fat sharpie marker.

Came to post this.  I wanted to make a tool that would fit in a 3500 box along with 15-20 senkos. A Sharpie body is the perfect size and length, it puts the ring right past the egg sack. 

I’m a plumber so I have a lot of O rings and scrap copper so I’ll just rob my work van of a small piece of half inch copper pipe and slide the o ring I’m going to use over it, put the senko in and slide it off. Never done it any other way

A lot of good ideas here, but honestly it is only  $7.00 for a wacky tool that will probably last a lifetime.

It does not take much to spend $7.00 on tackle. I have jerkbaits that cost 4 times that much. 

add in a couple ridiculous priced glide baits and $7.00 is pretty cheap.

I was honestly looking for something quick  I could throw together to put smaller O-Rings on 3 in senkos for a trip to my local river today. I didn’t have time to order a wacky tool or anywhere to pick one up between here and there. Definitely not above buying one but why not save $7 by using junk just lying around?
