Zoom Super Flukes

Featured Replies

Just bought my first pack ever today in "White Ice" color.. I saw the bellies are slit so I was wondering what the best hook for these? I also was wondering the best retrieve for them.

Thanks

Cole

I use anywhere from a 2/0-4/0 ewg hook depending on how fast I want it to sink and what I have available. BassResource has a number of videos on flukes o youTube you should check out. I believe in one Glenn said he uses an offset worm hook. Great videos btw very informative.

I prefer the 3/0 or 4/0 Gamakatsu EWG hook for fishing Super Flukes. I think you get better action with the 3/0, but a better hook-up ratio with the 4/0.

5/0 Gamakatsu  EWG superline hook. I usually fish soft jerkbaits in two or three different ways. #1 is the "traditional" twitch-twitch pause, and repeat. #2 I reel really fast for a few feet, this cause the bait to blow out of the water and flop around on top, then I kill it and let it sink for a second, and then burn it again. And I also just dead stick them like a senko, let it sink and soak, and after a while give it a sharp jerk and let it sink and soak again.

Same here on the hooks.

Same here on the retrieves. If they sluggish work it slow, if they are active don't be afraid to work them fast and get a reaction strike.

right on with the hooks.

you might consider trying what they call a "donkey rig", better known as a double rigged fluke.

here's the link for how to rig it;

and here's a good video about it;

hope this helps!

3/0 EWG gamakatsu-weightless-quick, downward, side-jerks

4/0 gama with a swivel. flukemstr on youtube has some great vids on the fluke also, i like all of his vids there great!

4/0 skip back hook's.

I usually put a nail inside the slit just below the top where the hook rests.

I like the way it makes it fall hoziontally especially in grass and pad holes.

4/0 or 5/0 Superline EWG.

1. Twitch, twitch, pause, twitch,twitch, hard twitch, pause, REPEAT

2. Dead stick- wait till its on bottom, light a cigarette, hard twitch, REPEAT

Its not an exact science....not for me anyhow.

4/0 EWG or offset round bend hook. I think the offset round bend hooks offer a better hook up.

I use a 3/0 EWG Gammy and rig the hook in the belly slot. I fish flukes fairly slow, letting them sink to the desired depth, and I will twitch them, and then pause anywhere between 5 and 20 seconds. I alter the number and intensity of the twitches, and the length of the pauses. One of the deadliest bass lures of all time for clear water.
