Auto Insurance Battle? How Long?

Anyone work in the auto insurance business?

At the beginning of March, I had a not so bright individual who backed her car directly into me without looking on a 3 lane road. She was cited on the scene but later changed her story to her insurance that I rear ended her.  They didn't compensate my damage because they backed her story so I had to file my claim and pay my deductible. I went to court Wednedsay to make sure she plead guilty and the fine went through. She did, only because I was there I believe.

So far, everything looks to be in my favor (I hope) but I wanted to know how long of a wait usually is it when insurance companies battle for things like this?  I want my money back.....

Happened to my buddy six years ago. The companies are still going at it. I would advise suing the individual. Or her insurance company. That's just me though.

Thanks for the input. Hiring a lawyer to just gain back my deductible seems like more money than worth the trouble.  What could I even sue her/ or her insurance on?

Sounds like this is soemthign the insurance company needs to deal with, that's what you pay them for.  You made a claim for the accident through your insurance and if they feel the need to be reimbursed they will go after her insurance company.  I would call your insurance company and bring up the possibility of getting your deuctible refunded.

Yea that was discussed already with them.  I was just curious on the time frame of the two companies working it out. Because until my insurance company gets the money back from her insurance, I won't see my deductible back. It's only $500 so not the end of the world, but it's still money I had to pay out of my pocket and I shouldn't have had to.  Plus my SUV is due for tires.....and I could use the cash for that expense.

that makes sense.  They one time i had to do this same type of thing it went pretty quickly, about 2 weeks, but my insurance company did not require me to pay the deductible out of my pocket either.

it depends on the companies and how long they take, particularly her company.  since she plead guilty, i would take that paperwork to your company so they have that to use against her and her company.  your company should contact them within a day or two.  then you are at the mercy of her company.  her company could drag its feet for a month or two.  but if you stay in touch with your claims person and they keep making follow up calls to the other company, it will speed things up.   not to mention, your company should get their money from them for what your repairs cost your company to pay to fix yours.  make sense?

I worked with progressive back in November of last year.  They had an adjuster out in 48 hours.  My car was in the shop of my choice by the next week.  That was the shops fault.  Never paid a dime.  Had a fairly comparable rental for the 2 weeks it was in the shop.  The repairs ran over budget.  They covered them no problem.  I was very satisfied with them.
