Bought the Daiwa Presso 7' rod and Shimano Symetre 500FJ a few months ago and have used the combo a few times. Today finally paid off with a small bass but felt like a nice one with the setup. I used a BPS ultralight XTS minnow.

Just one bass, but it was fun.

nice! how do you like that rod?

im on the fence about picking up one of those presso's or an older procyon for some UL action but i already have a light power rod rated down to 1/32oz...

I like the rod, just not thrilled with the micro pitch tapering, more like micro ribs on the blank.  The micro ribs has a tendency catching the line, especially if there is slack on the line like when you are changing out a lure or taking off a fish.  I notice the line catching a bit more when I'm using 5 lb / 1 lb diameter Power Pro braid.

Other thing I don't care for is how big the top guide is, a small inline spinner can almost go through the top guide...if wasn't for the hook to stop it, it would.  It hasn't happened but I can see it happening.

Those things said, I do like the rod overall.  It is sensitive, I can feel an ultralight crankbait or an inline spinner through the line, I like the ultralight taper more than the Daiwa Spinmatic Ultralight I had previously.

Sweet. Nothing like a bass on ultralight gear. Well, maybe there is, but it's still FUN!
