What size weight is everyone using when flipping docks and weedlines with a texas rig? I know a lot of people say go as light as you can go, but does that really matter?

1/4oz-3/4oz. Depends on depth and the mood of the fish. Most times though I either have a 3/8 or 1/2oz tied on. 1/4 oz if the fish are inactive or there is heavy "matted" weeds on the bottom of the lake (this helps keeps my bait from going through them and up on top were the fish can see it).  I jump up to a 3/4oz if I'm looking for a reaction strike or 15+ ft deep weedlines. I always go as heavy as I can get away with. The fish will let you know though. I have seen days were dropping to a 1/4oz from a 3/8oz is night and day in the number of fish landed, same goes for bumping up weight as well.

I fish a 1/8,1/4,1/2,3/4 oz. I can cover skinny water to deep.

1/4 and 1oz are my most used. Depending on the depth of the dock will dictate, but 1/4 oz will do.

1/4, 3/8, 1/2oz.

I feel like the 1/4 is the most versatile so i use it the most

3/16 and 1/4 most of the time

I will throw 1/8oz if the water is up to 5'

If it gets deeper like 10' I'll go up to a 1/4. 

I used to fish really heavy b/c I liked the contact/feel it gave me. But I lightened it up this year and swam my T-rigs a bit more...upped my bass big time.

 

I got outfished on docks in tournaments when my co-angler was throwing a weightless senko and I was throwing a 3/8-1/2oz jig. Could be the lure, could be the presentation
