New Reel On Its Way. Good Choice?

Featured Replies

So, I have 2 newer E model chronarchs was planning on a 3rd. I was also playing with the idea of grabbing a Lexa 100 and stay in that price range when I came across a review of the E model Curados. I found a R model on Amazon for $135 shipped so I spontaneously ordered it. Lol I heard the older ones are very comparable to the Chronarchs and that the newer G line of Curados are a downgrade... did I make a good choice?

Also regarding the Lexa series I've read there is a slight knock in the handles that the washer under the rubber doesn't lock down far enough. I experience that with one one of my Penn reels for saltwater and HATE It! It's so annoying! Does any? Actually experience that? It does seem like a reel I would like to own if I catch a good deal on it....

Cheers

I think you will be very happy with that reel.  Get it super tuned and I KNOW you will be happy.

The Curado E Series reels are basically the exact same as the Chronarch E Series reels.  They are great workhorse reels and $135 is a good price on a new one.  I don't have any experience with the Lexa but all reports I've read have been favorable.

I have the Curado E series in 200E5 and 50E.   I think they are the finest reels on the market in their price range.  Literally perfect from the box.  And, from what I've heard, the upgrade of bearings and drag will put them in a whole new class.

I don't see the need to improve on them.   Great buy!!

Good deal for the price. I like the Lexa a lot, but I think you'll be happy with your order for the $$.

For me, the curado E series ( as well as the citica E series) are the best reels on the market. I love the way the fit my hand when palming, the ease of setup and use, the consistency on the cast, and the smoothness on the retrieve.

Many other really good reels on the market, but I prefer this shimano series. If you are anything but very happy, I will be surprised.
