Koppers Live Target Baits - Worth Money?

Featured Replies

I was thinking of picking up a few of these but before I pull the trigger just wanted to see what experiences people had with them.

I've done well with their Crawfish trap, I've also picked up a few of their Bluegill baits but haven't used them enough to give offer an opinion other than to say they sure look the part.

bought one, but it's too expensive for me to lose, so i've been reluctant to throw.

Here is my experience:

Bought a bluegill 5-7. First time using it hooked up with about a 30 inch Pike while bass fishing. Got it to the boat, went to grab it, Wiggle, Snap, cut my line and I lost a $12.00 lure. = Ticked and broke

Starting tossing my Live Target Perch 7-10. Threw it for the better part of the morning for SMB. Went to make a sidearm cast and smacked the lure on my trolling motor, breaking in in two. Lossed another $12.00 lure. = Ticked and even more broke

Moral of the story: Great baits and will catch fish but if you are frugal about your money and possible money lost get a cheaper bait.

they work very well, I think they are worth the money if you have it

Try losing a few 40.00 swimbaits.. ;)

I have the golden shiner..haven't thrown it much, so I haven't caught any fish..They do have nice action though.. ;)

Buy it if you are not afaird to lose it , it's a decent bait.

I have one of the lipped crawfish baits. I LOVE the way it looks in the water, but have only fished it one trip, and the bite wasn't really on that day.

my brother in law caught a 4 lb bowfin and a 1.5 lb bass using the bluegill crank.  he was using 45 lb braid, on his browning midas baitcast setup (crashing the crank all day) .  the lake we were fishing has large lilly beds and ridiculous timbered areas. seemed to have really good action to it, and you cannot beat the paintjob.  this is actually the first crank hes bought so 2 fish for his first time wasn't too bad.  the picture of the bowfin is actually on the southeast forum.
