Okuma Reflexion Casting Rod 7' Med Hvy?

Featured Replies

I'm a novice jig angler and if I really like this rod I might end up getting it from TW..

It's rated for 3/8th-1-1/4th oz.

Anybody ever use one of these rods? For 60 bucks are they to good to be true?

BR will most certainly tell you that it is crap because it is inexpensive. It doesn't cost tons of money so that obviously means it is low quality. Everyone will chime in and tell you to "save your money for the $400 Dobyns. Don't waste your money on less than $100 rods".

The cynicism is strong with me today.

Take deep abdominal breaths. Count to ten........   feel better?

To the OP, no experience with the rod. But anytime I look at a new rod I got to a store to feel it out first.  I couldn't buy any rod no matter the price point without handling it first.  If that's not an option for you, its your gamble.  Maybe someone who has one will chime in but Okuma isn't a very popular brand by the majority.

I personally didn't like the rod in question ( 7 FT MH reflections casting rod.) It felt dead in my hands while using it.  I ended up giving it to my brother.  Now if you don't mind buying a rod without a warranty you should really consider the Powell Diesel lineup of rods.  I  have the 7'6" Diesel rod and it has a ton of power to it and has pretty good sensitivity to boot.  I use mine for throwing paddle tail swim baits, heavier jigs and big spinner baits.  I've been really impressed and honestly surprised by how good this rod has been for me.  I just wish it had cork grips because I HATE foam grips.
