Skinny Bass?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I fish a local pond quite a bit and all the bass seem so skinny... I have caught maybr 5 fish of decent size 4-5lb but they look soooo skinny.. They have a v shape behind their head. I read the big ole healthy bass should be U shaped. There are tons or bluegill, perch, horn pout and pickerel in this pond. What if anything do you think I could do to make the bass bigger/fatter.. Take pickerel home to eat? Take bass home to eat? They must be lacking somewhere??? Any tips appreciated. Thank you

most likely your predator population is to high and all your prey fry is being consumed before its gets big enough to provide any real nutrition. i would be taking out out all the smaller bass and pickerel i caught.

If the bass 4-5 lbs they are doing OK. I have no idea what you mean about V vs U shape? Big head skinny body, how about measuring length ang girth or post a photo.
