Fine Round Rubber Tips

Wow this stuff is a pain in the.. To work with, tangles itself up quickly and gets kinky, what's the best way to work with this stuff when it comes to separating the strands

The best way to separate the strands is to use clamp on the skirt collar, then take one side of skirt and stretch it out . Then take sharp scissors and cut the skirt slowly, this will pull the strands apart. This is not a fast process. You need to cut skirt slowly. When done on one side of skirt ,do the other side.

Easier said than done lol, looks like hell the skirt strands get kinked to ****, and some don't separate. I'm close to throwing it in the garbage

It will take a while to get the hang of it. When you do you`ll be cutting them like a pro. When stretching out the skirt, stretch it out until it almost reaches breaking point, then cut.

I don't use it anymore because the stuff needs to be stored in unscented talk or chalk powder to keep from getting clumped and kinked and if it somewhere warm it doesn't take much to melt. I do as Pabasser does, but the last time I used it I was only adding accent srands so I clamp one end to my bench, pull it tight and slowly cut across, they will pop free if you take your time.

Try cutting it more slowly, Don. I think you're in too much of a hurry. Develop patience. Taking the time a job needs to be done well is worth it. You'll be less frustrated and will like the results. That's the end of my pep talk.

I have been doing it for 25 years, and it is my preferred method.  You can make up your own designs, and colors

no one else has.  I use a fly tying vice to hold my hook while I tye the jig.  Take your thread put on 8 or 10 wraps

around the jig.  Add some thread sealer to the threads to lock them.  I use fingernail polish.  Cheap and comes

with the brush.  then add one color, put on some wraps and then another color.  Tie them off and then put on 1

more coat of sealer.  Let sit for a min, and you are done.  Takes me only a couple of minutes to do a jig.

I'll give it a shot again today with a different frame of mind. I'll follow up with how it went, thanks
