This might sound like a dumb question but what does DOA stand for in D.O.A. lures? I've researched it online and can't find it. Also, does anyone know of any good D.O.A. lures for freshwater? I've only used their saltwater lures but I heard they make freshwater ones now too. Any success with them? Thanks.

Dead On Arrival

Not sure about freshwater lures but I was thinking about throwing a DOA shrimp the other day watching Bass chase grass shrimp all morning..

We use a lot of D.O. A. products down here. As far as I know most baits are developed for saltwater, that being said I've used terror eyes for bass with effectiveness, also saltwater mirrorlure plastics work equally as well.

One of my favorites is CAL jerkbaits on a 1/4 oz DOA jig head. Their jigs heads are some of the best I've ever used, and CAL stands for " Cheap *** Lures"............that's a fact.

D.O.A. lures are quite popular along the Gulf Coast & I've caught on their C.A.L. 5.5" Jerk Bait fished like a Fluke; Norton Sand Eels is another killer salt water plastic lure.

I thought a couple years ago they said it stood for "Deadly On Anything".

During summer, saltwater moves up our river systems, bringing shrimp with it. Quite a few of the club tourneys have been won on their shrimp during this time.

It's pretty nice to catch a bass on one cast, then hook into a red or trout the very next.

Those DOA shrimp are grossly popular down here. I used to use them all the time for snook and snapper. I think they changed how they made them after a while though. It seems like they aren't nearly as detailed or as much of a quality bait as they used to be. I've still got a few of the older ones here in my saltwater stuff, and some of the new ones I've seen look like garbage compared to them. Still a great lure no matter what though.
