Kinda Well Known Tip..

Featured Replies

So I bet you all have heard of this.... I've found that I can literally double my strikes by jamming a piece of sponge soaked in anise oil up in my tubes. A lot of people use coffee or garlic, but I found anise works the best. P.S..... Anise does NOT rhyme with "heinous". :P

I actually have not heard this, Im gonna give it a shot, I dont fish tubes engough even though I have tons of them, Thanks for the tip!

Yeah no prob. Garlic is great for largemouth but if you have anise on hand it does wonders for smallies.

Look in the spice section of your grocery store, you can buy the Anise oil there. I have several bags of Zoom brand soft plastics that I just pour a little in, it works great for smallies and trout. Growing up my Dad told me that Anise should be outlawed.

Good ideas guys my grocery list will be different than the wifes now.

The original BaitMate (Gamefish) uses anise oil as does the newer version gel with the glitter in it.   I haven't seen it on the shelves this year, so I'm not sure if it's still in distribution.  My wife has been hoarding the last bottle we have. I have other attractants she won't use as long as there's a drop left in that bottle.
