Non Skid Paint Instead Of Carpet

Featured Replies

Hi, im looking into replacing my deck in my stratos 266f/s, but was thinking ,why would I put new carpet in ,so it can just hold water ,has anyone ever used the non skid stuff, instaed of carpet ?

Its been done, go light, it will be bad on bare feet.

Alot of guys with river jet boats do it.  another option that may work well is the Sea dek products. They sell it by the sheet and i know a few people who have used them in their kayaks with great success.  I imagine it is lighter than a spray on floor and easier to replace down the road.

Or just a textured vinyl like you see on a lot of newer G3 aluminum boats. You can get it by the sheet and install just like carpet, but you can spray it out instead

Vinyl seems to be the norm with some of the deep v manufactures. I prefer to fish barefoot until the carpet gets too hot. Anything that's not carpet will be bad on bare feet, and hot. Go with a light color like tan.

I've used seadek on inshore boats before and its awesome stuff but its not cheap. If I ever buy another new boat it will have non skid with sea dek on it. You get the comfort of carpet but the ease of cleaning you get with non skid.
