New To Bass Fishing And Having Success

Featured Replies

I've been fishing all of my life, mostly saltwater, but I just started getting into bass fishing about two weeks ago. Gotta say that I am obsessed already! My first two trips to Castaic Lake, which is my local lake in northern Los Angeles, produced a couple of 1-2lb bass and a bunch of lost fish. This morning I decided to make the 1.5 hour drive to Lake Perris, which is in Riverside, CA. Not many bites, but I did catch my new PB largemouth on my first cast. The fish seemed to be about 3 pounds; I didn't have a scale so you'll have to judge by the pic. All my bass have been landed on wacky rigged senkos. Itching to get back on the water already!

Congrats on starting your first bass fishing season!  And nice fish!  Looks around 3 pounds to me.

Congrats on your PB

Congrats!  You have many fine lakes in our area.  May I suggest a trout style swimbait......

I would love to catch a big bass on a trout swimbait! Might have to wait till they start stocking trout again though.

Don't wait. The effectiveness of that bait will work with or without trout stocking.
