Putting together a "panic box"....suggestions?

Featured Replies

I am putting together a panic box for those days when you just can't get em to hit anything.  What are some of yalls suggestions?

Small inline spinners.  I've caught many a nice bass on my Roostertails, Blue Foxes, and Terminator inlines.  I guess I've caught most other species of fish around here on them too.  I know when I use them I'm gonna catch SOMETHING, be it bass or not.

x2 on in-line spinners. My PB LMB (7-12) was caught on a Roostertail.

Also, 3- to 5-inch single-tail grubs. Will catch almost anything and since they're mostly weedless (when t-rigged) you can fish them in places where you can't use the spinners.

For some reason I have never had any luck period on a brush hog.  I have friends that love them though!  I guess I'm fishing em wrong or something.

1) Floating Rapala-minnow pattern

2) Panther Martin spinner (better than Roostertail IMO because they always spin).

3) Super Fluke or Fluke Jr

4) Senko or other stickbait

5) Manns 1 minus and 5 minus crankbait

6) Brush Hog or baby Brush Hog

Jig

Tube

Senko

Roadrunner head with the willow leaf blade and a Powerbait 2-3" grub attached in white. Will catch all kinds of fish pretty much anywhere. Throw on some JJ's or Megastrike and you'll stick em.

I go to beetle spins when I get desperate

Hopefully Wayne P. will come in here and post about his wacky rig.  That thing is dirty and has caught me a ton of fish since I started using it like he does.  It's just a small finesse hook and Zoom finesse worm but something about it catches fish all the time.

Almost unfair to fish with. Also have to mention stickbaits.

Sounds like something that I want to hear more about!

SK bitsy bug jigs.  Just make sure to sharpen hooks b4 use.  They are sooooo dull out of package but sharpen up nicely.  Gotten me out of a jam alot of times.

1/8 Backwater Baits black finesse football jig

3/16 Spider Slider head w/ Berkley 4" finesse worm

Gold Blue Fox in line spinner

4" wacky rigged Senko

1/4 football head w/ green pumpkin hula grub

Beetle spins and mimic minnow w/spinner. When bass are chasing spinner baits but just not hitten em. ;)

Bettle spins and Roadrunner's have always seemed to get me fish when nothing else will.  Also a texas rigged ribbontail worm in watermelon has caught a lot of fish when nothing else will.

stock some 4 1/2" or 6" robo worms in any color you choose and pack along some drop shot weights !! dropshotting will catch you fish when all else fails ;)

How yall feel about Shakey heads?

excellent if you fish in places that have no grass !!! where i fish there is a ton of grass on the bottom , that's why i prefer a drop shot rig instead of a shakey head set-up . if i were fishing shell beds , gravel bottoms , sand , etc... i would be fishing them alot !!

3" senko's/dingers using either 1/32 oz or 1/16 oz Gopher Tackle Mushroom Jighead. The jighead has a small # 6 Gamakatsu hook.- Even though this is an exposed hook it is surprisingly weedless especially the 1/32 oz jighead

Lucky Craft RC 0.5 Crankbait- I usually opt for the Ghost color

No such thing. I suppose the best route, if you are prone to "panic", is to add finesse, even UL gear to get you into the largest population of bass in every water -the little ones. Sometimes doing that will bring your confidence back up enough to handle the down time.

I'd like to hear more about this?  Two of my favorite things, wacky (usually a 4" senko for me) & Finesse worm (usually shaky head for me).

worms, dont forget the worms!  Trick, finnesse, shakey, etc., all great when slowing things down.
