I got both and was wondering if anybody has fished with both and which one they prefer. I have played around with both.

Gambler double trouble hook

Pros-added weight helps casting, easier to rig

Cons-available in only one size, quality control-one hook I got was too wide but it was replaced by Gambler

Trutungsten

Pros-3 sizes, very high quality hook, lighter if using a frog that floats thats good

Cons-a mother #@$%%$ to rig its very hard to get a frog on straight and the best way I found you have to retie every time you put a new frog on

Any other feedback from you guys

Never used the Gambler hook but the Tru Tungsten hook is my pick anyway. I always have had trouble rigging a frog with a dual hook, but after you do it a lot, it will become second nature to you. The tru tungsten hook does a good job of keeping the frog (or other topwater soft plastics) from flipping.

Buy some cheapo frogs and practice rigging with them. I push the eye of the hook up through the head and just skin hook the frog in the upper butt region haha. Depends on what frog you are using though, that doesn't work on all model frogs.

i've tried double hooks before , both brands plus gama's and Owner's and i prefer a single hook !! i get way better hook up ratio with a single wide gap hook , will never try a double hook again , just my opinion .....

I have the TT double hooks and disliked the rigging methods so I have hardly used them. For me the big single Zoom Horny Toad Hook, a 5/0 Gamakatsu EWG Superline, or a 5/0 Gamkatsu spring lock super line work fine.

Just a suggestion I always use a single hook for frogs but maybe you could purchase some of the owner Twist locks they sell seperately and put them on the double hooks. I would think it would solve the rigging problem.
