Transducer For Kayak

Featured Replies

I just purchased a new Jackson Cuda 12 and was curious if anyone has used the Lowrance Scupper Mount Transducer?  I have been looking at the Elite-4x DSI as the finder I want to purchase and was debating on going with the scupper mount vs the in-hull style.  I know the basic pros and cons of each but was curious.  Thanks!

Haven't used that particular one or a cuda but i rigged my transducer of the back of my commander using a CB antenna spring.  Pretty straightforward installation and cheap.  So far it has done pretty well and always snaps back into place after hitting an underwater obstruction.

Thanks, that looks like a pretty slick setup. I dont like the idea of a swingarm on the side, might have to try something like that.

Ive heard of people breaking off the scupper mount.

I used the Deployment Arm, and the inside hull with Duct Seal.

I like Flyfishers set up. I like the give it employs.

Thats exactly what I worry about with the scupper mount is breaking it off. I think I will likely go with the in-hull style and duct seal. As long as its setup correctly the only downfall is water temp reading for the first hour or so from what I hear.

You can get a 5 buck aquarium thermometer for water temp. ;)

I use the Lowrance scupper mount for my transducer on my Elite 4x-DSI.  Works great on my Ocean Kayak.  A buddy has the same setup on his Ascend kayak and even though his sticks out below the hull a little further than mine (the OK has a transducer compatible scupper that has a larger recess for the transducer to mount in), it works great for what he uses it for.

Google, duct seal transducer well. Painless, simple, durable, and cheap.

Thanks for the info guys, I think that  duct seal well method will work best for me, and I'll certainly use an aquarium thermometer initially.
