Many of the areas younger guys may not have heard of Richard because he has been out of the game for awhile but trusts me back in the day he was one of the best on the lake.

 

Heres a few older articles about him, but not much being before the Cyber Generation. Dont go by FLW  results because by the time that came along he was up in age, that being said theres still a win on there at close to 70 years old.

 

In his later years while he was guiding I would see him at the ramp he would tell you some little tidbit about the lake that no one would ever have thought of.

 

Just thought he deserved a mention on here, he was truly a local Bass Fishing Legend.

Some of my earliest and best fishing memories are from his store. His tackle shop was my toys-r-us when I when I was kid.

He probably had one at one time but he mostly guided out of the north end. I think he fished out of a Lake and Bay for a long time which is the same hull as a Big O. But Im sure he had a trip down there a time or two.

I got to fish with him a few times and he taught me a lot. RIP buddy. 

I fished with Richard many times over a 20 year period of time and he was always professional and we always caught fish. His wife Quinn and Richard ran the best tackle shop on the lake in my opinion . His guides at that time that I knew were Billy Catoe, Jim Porter , Gary Steifel , Larry Wright , Eddie Clay , Red Altman, Doyle McDuffie , Butch Butler and Richard.  He ran many different brands of boats during the time I new him , A Storm , two Big Os , a Javelin and two Release flats boats .  He was the best .     RIP Richard.

Rest in piece Richard.  God bless his family and friends.  He leaves us all lots of fond memories.
