Dude! Where's My Canal?!?

Featured Replies

So I woke up yesterday morning only to find the canal behind my house with about 1.5-2ft lower water level than the day before!!! Looks like someone has been opening the flood gates here in S.FL. as a reaction to the recent downpours. It looks like it flushed a lot of fish out of my canal :-( I'm gonna go cry like a little girl now...

thats south fla water management for ya always controlling water levels but they have to so we dont flood!!!!

Okeechobee county and the treasure coast are under a flood watch from Wednesday night to Thursday night. Its expected to rain the rest of the week and start clearing up Saturday and Sunday. There is a big tropical disturbance in the gulf causing all the rain.

A food watch! Sounds delicious! Im game! :eyebrows:

florida summers gotta love them

I have been in a fishing slump the past few weeks, they drained the lakes and canals by me also. I might have to resort to bread. Hopefully this weekend is better than last, running from rain.

The canals have been very low here over the last week, the ponds are filled to the brim.  Being as it's June, it's humid and the gnats are out my freshwater fishing is quite limited.  Snook season is over until 9/1, but now is when it should get good.  Everyone has their own take on why saltwater fishing has been slow this year, the bottom line is a lack of white baits showing up,plenty of mullet.  I love fishing from the beach, haven't had much of a reason to do it yet, just a matter of time until it gets hot, been saying since April........lol.   All said it's really a matter of putting your time in and something is going to happen, my numbers are way down this year but I caught some nice snook, tarpon and barracuda.  Until the fishing picks up I'm spending some time working the ICW and the inlet, as soon as some decent reports come in I'll be heading up to Juno and Hobe Sound.

Their pumping like mad, they got to keep the water low for these storms.

Supposed to be a busy year.
