Kastmaster for Bass?

I never throw them, however there was a guy next to me at the local park lake throwing chrome 1/2oz kastmasters..he got 2 bass, about 2lbs each, and kept them for dinner.

Anyways..he was a using a steady med retrive.

Things gettin tough at tri cities..?  :P

One of the lures I have a lot of luck on.  Feathered chrome and blue, usually 3/4's or 1 ounce.   I'm a shore fisherman, so sometimes it's one of the few lures I can get to where I think the bass are.   Varied retrieves but typically medium steady or slow with the occassional jerk or letting it drop.

Things are always tough at tri city... I just wanted to try something different.  I can only catch the little scrappers consistently.  The bigger ones are the tough ones.  But thanks for the answer!

Im used to getting skunked there... So you definately feel my pain.  A couple days ago I finally caught a decent bass(~2lbs.) off the Hudd Grass Minnow, I usually miss fish on it cuz its a little tough to get a good hookset with those.  At least if you look at it this way, if you can catch fish in HIGHLY pressured city lakes, you can catch fish almost everywhere.

On windy days in the surf I like a Kastmaster, Hopkins or diamond jig, excellent distance.

For bass my preference is a Wahoo redfish spoon or a Mepps spoon, I use the saltwater version because the gold stays shiny, freshwater version seems to dull.

They are probably the best vertical jigging spoon in existance, and using a retrieve with snaps thrown in can be good for deepwater bass too.

Have any or do any of you use kastmasters for bass? What size, weight, color, and retrieve has worked best for you? Thanks!

They work great in my main lake. You can caught fish of all sizes. The little fish I'm holding in my icon was caught using a small blue and chrome.

My best pattern is cast to rocky points, letting it settle to the bottom and jig it back to the boat.

The small hooks help from snagging rocks, but you will get snagged. After a few snags, you should get a feel for how to un-snag the lure without having to move the boat(not every time). I like to bow my rod by grabbing the line and then release it quickly throwing slack in the line.

Kastmasters are great lures in the right conditions.
